Lower Water Consumption

Low Flow Bathroom Fixtures

You'd be amazed at how much water you use and how much water you can do without. Lower water consumption is not hard to accomplish. Low flow bathroom fixtures do the work for you.

Low flow shower heads supply a flow of 2.5gpm (gallons per minute) or less. Federal regulations now say that new shower heads cannot exceed 2.5gpm at 80psi. Same goes for faucets. Before 1992 shower heads had as much flow as 5.5gpm. If you have fixtures that date before 1992 you should seriously consider replacing them.

The amount water supplied through a faucet is determined by the aerator. These generally just screw on to the outlet of the faucet. Older faucet aerators supplied 2.5gpm. Newer aerators supply from .5gpm to 1.5gpm. Aerators are inexpensive and easy to install. A very easy way to cut back on water.

In addition to cutting back on water you are also cutting back on energy. Especially with shower heads you use a lot of hot water. Using less hot water will make your hot water heater run less.
